Appeal Process
In the event of an application being declined by the GEF selection committee, an appeal process is available. The process is:
- a two-person panel made up of a representative of NZAID and a representative of Global Focus Aotearoa who are not members of the GEF committee is convened
- the panel will seek information from the selection committee about the basis for its decision and invite the applicant to comment on the decision
- the panel will check that due process has been followed and that the selection criteria have been fairly applied
- if the panel considers that due process was not followed or that selection criteria have been applied unfairly, it will recommend the selection committee reconsider its decision
- the selection committee will reconsider its decision
- if the panel considers that due process has been followed and that the selection criteria have been fairly applied, the panel will recommend that no further action is necessary
- the applicant will be notified of the outcome of the appeal process in writing within three months of lodging the appeal.
